Violence consists of several people being shot (with one of them also being attacked with a hatchet), some of which has very bloody results, along with some other non-lethal contact. Sexually related dialogue is present, as is a sexual encounter (with movement & sounds), while other sexual encounters occur off camera and a large-scale sexual "toy" is seen (complete with a realistic looking dildo). Profanity consists of at least 60 "f" words, while other expletives and colorful phrases are uttered.   • RICHARD JENKINS plays Linda and Chad's boss who thinks nothing good will come of their discovery of Osborne's information and becomes increasingly dismayed about how their behavior is affecting their job performance, especially since he secretly loves Linda.Ĭurious if this title is entertaining, any good, and/or has any artistic merit?.
  • TILDA SWINTON plays his unhappily married wife, a pediatrician who's having an affair with Harry.
  • He also gets quite violent with one person. He drinks, uses strong profanity, and is trying to write his memoirs when Linda and Chad come along to irritate him.
  • JOHN MALKOVICH plays a caustic man who's just quit being a CIA agent after having his role downsized.
  • BRAD PITT plays her dimwitted coworker and accomplice in her plan.
  • FRANCES McDORMAND plays a fitness center employee who's so obsessed with body image - now that she's into online dating and meeting and sleeping with various strangers, including Harry - that she tries to blackmail Osborne (and then sell his info to the Russians) in order to pay for her upcoming plastic surgery.
  • Thinking he's being watched and followed, he uses strong profanity and drinks.
  • GEORGE CLOONEY plays a neurotic and married federal marshal who's not only cheating on his wife with Katie, but also Linda and other women.
  • WHY THE MPAA RATED IT: R For pervasive language, some sexual content and violence. WILL KIDS WANT TO SEE IT? Older teens might be interested, especially if they're fans of anyone in the cast and/or the writing/directing team of Joel Coen and Ethan Coen. From that point on and as they try to find a high bidder and Harry thinks he's being followed, the various characters' midlife crises and affairs collide in ways they couldn't have imagined. When a disc containing some of his cryptic information is discovered in the fitness center, Linda and Chad conspire to return it to him for a reward, but he doesn't know what they're talking about.

    She's unhappily married to Osborne Cox (JOHN MALKOVICH) who's just quit being an agent with the CIA after having his role reduced and is now writing his memoirs. One of the men she ends up seeing is federal marshal Harry Pfarrer (GEORGE CLOONEY) who's not only married to Sandy (ELIZABETH MARVEL), a children's book author, but is also having an affair with pediatrician Katie Cox (TILDA SWINTON). While her boss, Ted Treffon (RICHARD JENKINS), thinks she's perfect and covertly longs for her, Linda's dimwitted coworker, Chad Feldheimer (BRAD PITT), supports her decision as well as her recent foray into online dating. PLOT: Linda Litzke (FRANCES McDORMAND) is a middle-aged employee of a fitness center who believes she needs plastic surgery and thus is dismayed that her insurance company won't cover the costs. QUICK TAKE: Comedy: Fitness center employees' attempts to blackmail an ex-CIA agent go awry and end up involving more people than expected.
